I picked him up at 3 and went home. I gave him some acetaminophen (5ml). unlike a few months ago, he didn't fight but took it in three go. The fever receded by 5pm. He had some cocktail grapefruit (half), half a cup of milk. He seemed to regained his spirit. walked around and played for about an hour. The fever returned around 6:30pm. 101.5F.
He fell asleep around 7:30, by then he was really heating up, flashed cheek like what daycare teacher said he was after waking up from nap. this time it was 103F. He woke up crying. We gave him some ibuprofen around 8:30pm. Fever broke around 9:30pm.
It is 10:40pm now, he is asleep, the fever seems to be making another attempt at returning. but not as bad as before.
poor little guy. He really looked sick. Strangely his cough and running nose aren't exactly bad, even less severe than the last couple of weeks. I suppose tomorrow those symptom will come back. Hopefully fever wont. fingers crossed.

4/18/2012 Update: fever came back, went as high as 102.7, then slowly backed down. Noah woke up around midnight and then 4am, insisting on going to the living room to watch some animation. His temperature dropped to lowest at 4am (98.9) but came back by morning. between midnight and 4am, he broke in lots of sweat, but still burning cheeks. crying for a while. poor baby.
had a couple of bites of porridge in the morning.
got him an 9am appointment at kaiser. Now waiting for Mi's update. I"m on my way to work (on shuttle). pins and needles. hope it is nothing too bad.
it is by far the worst fever he has ever gotten in his 22 month.
he is a strong baby, he should be able to pull through this.
Apparently doctor sent Noah home without any prescription drugs. No ear infection and lung sounds very clear. She suspects it is just a sudden virus infection. Advised Mi to continue feed Noah Tylenol and Ibuprufen. return to the hospital if his fever lasts 3 days.
Temperature 101F in the hospital, nurse fed him Tylenol. His spirit largely recovered once got home. Seems like Tylenol is working.
